Venturing Crew Officer's Positions

All officers approach Venturing and encourage others to approach Venturing in a spirit of fun and enjoyment.

Crew President

  1. This position is elected by the membership of the Crew.
  2. Serves as youth leader of the crew .Implements the crew program in cooperation with officers and members.
  3. Works closely with Advisors and other adult leaders in a spirit of partnership.
  4. Represents the crew at Teen Leaders' Council (TLC) meetings and council TLC program planning conference and is available to report to the chartered organization and crew committee.
  5. Assists the crew Advisor in conducting the crew officers' seminar.
  6. Appoints youth chairs for special projects and appoints special crew officers.
  7. Presents the annual report to the chartered organization at the conclusion of the term of office.
  8. Assesses on an ongoing basis whether the responsibilities of the officers are being considered and carried out effectively.

 Administrative Vice President

  1. This position is elected by membership of the Crew.
  2. Serves as administrative officer of the crew.
  3. Assumes the responsibilities of the crew president in his or her absence.
  4. Leads the recruiting and admission of new members during the year.
  5. Organizes and recognizes the achievements of crew members.
  6. Conducts opening and closing ceremonies for special occasions as scheduled.
  7. Attends all crew activities.
  8. Participates in the council TLC program planning conference.
  9. Seeks to reflect the spirit of Venturing in recruiting of new members and through recognizing the achievements of crew members.

Program Vice President

  1. This position is elected by membership of the Crew.
  2. Serves as the program officer of the crew and, in that position, arranges the program planning process for the crew.
  3. Collects and maintains a crew activity file consisting of the program capability inventory, a list of crew member interests and suggestions for activities, program resources, and an annual activity schedule.
  4. Determines the interests of the crew members on an ongoing basis ( using Venturing activity interest surveys ).
  5. Provides support for the chair and committee for each activity.
  6. Maintains an up-to-date calendar of crew meetings and activities.

Secretary

  1. This position is elected by the membership of the Crew.
  2. Serves as the communications officer and, in that position, manages all communications and publicity for the crew.
  3. Maintains crew membership and attendance records.
  4. Handles crew correspondence and minutes.
  5. Coordinates crew publicity through local media, crew newsletters, and the crew's telephone network.

Treasurer

  1. This position is elected by membership of the Crew.
  2. Serves as the financial officer and, in that position, maintains financial records and monitors the crew budget.
  3. Collects and disburses crew funds.
  4. Approves all Crew expense reports.
  5. Provides the officers and members with a budget report on a monthly basis to keep them informed about the crew's finances.

Quarter Master

  1.  This position is elected by membership of the Crew.
  2. Maintains inventory of all Crew-owned equipment and maintains that equipment in good repair.
  3. Is responsible for safe and proper storage of any firearms, ammunition, and safety equipment  used by the Crew.
  4. Prepares an annual report of Crew Equipment Inventory to be provided to Charter Organization.
  5. Advises the Crew when new equipment is needed and provides cost information for the Crew to consider purchases.

 Den Chief

  1. Appointed by the Crew President with the approval of the Crew Advisor and at the request of the Cubmaster or Committee Chair of the Cub Scout Pack seeking a Den Chief.
  2. Will perform all the duties, as required, given for the position of Den Chief within the Boy Scouts of America.
