As a Venturer, I believe that America's strength lies in our trust in God and in the courage, strength, and traditions of our people. I will, therefore, be faithful in my religious duties and will maintain a personal sense of honor in my own life. I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it. I will recognize the dignity and worth of all humanity and will use fair play and goodwill in my daily life.; I will acquire the Venturing attitude that seeks truth in all things and adventure on the frontiers of our changing world.

 Venturing is a part of the Boy Scouts of America. It is open to young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. It gives these young men and women the opportunity to become involved in the Adventures of Scouting, but also prepares them for the future by putting in their hands the leadership of the program.
Unlike Boy Scouts, this is not about Merit Badges and Rank Advancements. Yes, there are awards that can be earned, the Venturing has the ultimate goals of Ranger, Trust, Quest, and the Silver Award available to those who wish to pursue it. But Venturing is more about getting out and facing challenges, being active in area of which the Crew members share a common interest. Its about getting out and having fun.
In 2012, we are planning on going Ice Skating, taking part in 2012 adVenture Race, attending the Centennial of Sea Scouts in Springfield IL, the St Louis Fall Fun Rally, as well as Venturing Camp, and maybe more Geocaching. Click HERE to see how you can get involved!

 Members of Crew 2675 were joined by Boy Scouts from Troop 258 at the Concordia City Lake to work on the requirements for the Canoe Meritbadge (Boy Scouts) and Watercraft Element in the Outdoor Bronze and Ranger Electives. Special thanks go out to Phil Dierking and Anita Brenberger for taking time out of their Sunday morning to put on this event for us.
This event leaves us only a couple of elements in the WaterCraft element, one of which is an eight mile canoe outing. So, anyone have any ideas?
1,174 Venturers, Sea Scouts, Explorers, and Adult Leaders from 12 States, 27 Councils attended the 2011 Greater St Louis Area Council Fall Fun Rally at the Beaumont Scout Reservation. Scouts and Scouters enjoyed demonstrations from the US Marshals, the St Louis K9 Unit, and an activity that taught Youth the hazards of driving and texting. The NRA brought out their handgun simulator, and Scouts and Scouters got a chance to try their hand at the skills of Fencing and throwing Boomerangs.
Overall, the event was packed full of more activities than Scouts Scouters could possibly take in during the event, but all gave it their best attempt. Members of Crew 2675 arrived early on Saturday morning, and after catching a quick breakfast, after setting camp, it was down to the business of jumping into a day packed with FUN!

 One more time. With the cold weather closing in, we decided to make one more Geocaching trip out to Monkey Mountain. The last time we were out here, we picked up two of the four Geocaches hidden in this Jackson County Park. This time we plotted a 2.5 mile trek to pick up the two remaining caches, Naughty Monkeys (GCBF8E) and East Monkey (GCH4W0). We set our starting point at the parking lot on the Southwest corner of the Park, off of RD Mize Road, and started up the hill.
First stop was visiting the camping areas that are located along the rock cliffs at the top of the access trail, then we spent a little bit of time having fun playing around on the large hay bales that were lined up along our path. We worked our way Northeast across the park to the High Power lines that cut through the park, and eventually found our nice casual walk through mowed fields was to end and the beginning of bush whacking through thorn bushes and Locust trees began.
Naughty Monkeys was in pretty sad shape. The tree that it had apparently been tied to had fallen over, and the contents of the Ammo Can were saturated to the point that signing the log was impossible. Unfortunately, we didn't have the supplies to fix the log, so we had to leave the cache unsigned. Trekking back out of the woods, we started up the .7 mile journey from Naughty Monkeys to East Monkey. We found this cache in good condition, and signed the log before starting on our trek back to the parking lot.
Congrats to our Webelos tag-along, Jay, for not only his first find, but for finding BOTH of the caches on this outting!
 There is Geocaching, and then there is GEOCACHING. Members of Crew 2675 made the trip out to Monkey Mountain in Eastern Jackson County Missouri to track down two of the four Geocaches that have been placed on this County Park. What makes this particular set of caches different? It was almost entirely bushwacking, covering over 2.5 miles of wooded terrain, crossing creeks, and marching through a variety of brush and natural obstacles. The prize? Crew members found both of the caches that were selected.

 Members of Crew 2675 and Pack 286 have been fortunate to have been invited to work events for the Missouri Rawhide Mounted Shooters out of Oak Grove Missouri. Crew members and Cub Scouts took part by replacing the Balloons used in the competition at several events over the summer of 2011, not only having a great time, but raising funds to help support Crew and Pack activities.
We would like to thank the members of the Missouri Rawhide Mounted Shooters for inviting us to work their events, and we're looking forward to working with them again in the future.
