1,174 Venturers, Sea Scouts, Explorers, and Adult Leaders from 12 States, 27 Councils attended the 2011 Greater St Louis Area Council Fall Fun Rally at the Beaumont Scout Reservation. Scouts and Scouters enjoyed demonstrations from the US Marshals, the St Louis K9 Unit, and an activity that taught Youth the hazards of driving and texting. The NRA brought out their handgun simulator, and Scouts and Scouters got a chance to try their hand at the skills of Fencing and throwing Boomerangs.
Overall, the event was packed full of more activities than Scouts Scouters could possibly take in during the event, but all gave it their best attempt. Members of Crew 2675 arrived early on Saturday morning, and after catching a quick breakfast, after setting camp, it was down to the business of jumping into a day packed with FUN!
So how about 2012? The dates have already been released for the 2012 Fall Fun Rally, but wait ... there's more! The Central Region for Venturing has announced that the Sea Scouts will be hosting a Regional Celebration of the Centennial of Sea Scouts in Springfield Illinois in May of 2012 and we're invited! Sailing, Canoeing, Boating, Swimming, and much more. Here's a chance to work on that hard to get Water Sports elements of Venturing! It could be a great start to what could be a fun packed summer in 2012!
May: Central Region Rendezvous in Springfield Illinois; June: Venturing Camp at Camp Naish in Bonner Springs Kansas, and the Fall Fun Rally in St Louis in September.
