In order to protect the youth of Scouting, the Boy Scouts of America require that ALL Leaders complete the following training requirements:
- Youth Protection - Venturing Version (since we are a Crew)
- This Is Scouting
- Venturing Leader Fast Start
- Venturing Leader Specific Training
Youth Protection MUST be completed every two years. Anyone who fails to complete the training requirements will be dropped from the Crew Charter by National Office, which can cause the Crew problems if the required number of leaders is not met, or key positions are not properly filled.
In addition to the above training, the Crew Leadership must maintain the following supplementary training:
- Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (one time) - Crew Advisor.
- Safety Afloat (watercraft safety) (every two years)
- Safe Swim Defense (every two years)
- Climb On Safety
- Weather Hazards
Not every leader is required to hold all of the supplementary training elements, but the more adults in the crew that have the above training, the easier it will be for the Crew to get out and be active.
