Crew 2675 was originally chartered in November of 2010, during the 100th Anniversary of Scouting. Our Charter Organization is the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5675 in Odessa Missouri, and we meet bi-monthly at the Calvary Baptist Church on the 2nd and 4th Sunday, pending any adventures that we may have planned.
Our focus is Emergency Preparedness with an interest in Weather Spotting. We encourage our Crew members to take basic First Aid training and CPR. We encourage our members to attend the annual Skywarn spotter training classes and seek other weather related training available on the Internet. We are also encouraging Crew members and Leaders to take and maintain the Wilderness First Aid training.
But Scouting is about fun. As we grow, we are looking at taking part in camping opportunities such as Venturing Camp at Camp Naish in Bonner Springs. The GSLAC - Fall Fun Rally held each year in September at the Beaumont Scout Reservation in St Louis Missouri. We are planning to make Ice Skating an annual activity for the Crew, as well as getting out and taking part in the hobby of Geocaching. The opportunities for adventure are only as limited as the Crew members make them.
We are still a very young Crew. We are still developing our program which means that we can easily shift interests to those of the members of the Crew. Again, its about having fun. Venturing is all the fun of Boy Scouts without the focus on Merit Badges and Rank advancements.
