As a Venturer, I believe that America's strength lies in our trust in God and in the courage, strength, and traditions of our people. I will, therefore, be faithful in my religious duties and will maintain a personal sense of honor in my own life. I will treasure my American heritage and will do all I can to preserve and enrich it. I will recognize the dignity and worth of all humanity and will use fair play and goodwill in my daily life.; I will acquire the Venturing attitude that seeks truth in all things and adventure on the frontiers of our changing world.
Venturing is a part of the Boy Scouts of America. It is open to young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age. It gives these young men and women the opportunity to become involved in the Adventures of Scouting, but also prepares them for the future by putting in their hands the leadership of the program.
Unlike Boy Scouts, this is not about Merit Badges and Rank Advancements. Yes, there are awards that can be earned, the Venturing has the ultimate goals of Ranger, Trust, Quest, and the Silver Award available to those who wish to pursue it. But Venturing is more about getting out and facing challenges, being active in area of which the Crew members share a common interest. Its about getting out and having fun.
In 2012, we are planning on going Ice Skating, taking part in 2012 adVenture Race, attending the Centennial of Sea Scouts in Springfield IL, the St Louis Fall Fun Rally, as well as Venturing Camp, and maybe more Geocaching. Click HERE to see how you can get involved!
Crew 2675 was originally chartered in November of 2010, during the 100th Anniversary of Scouting. Our Charter Organization is the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5675 in Odessa Missouri. We currently meet on the first and third Sundays at the Calvary Baptist Church in Odessa Missouri from 2pm until 3:30pm. We also meet on the fourth Sunday of the month for an activity, which will be announced for place and time on the Crew Calendar and Facebook Pages.
Crew 2675 is about having fun in Scouting. We are involved with the Heart of America Council Venturing Officer's Association. Crew members have worked as Camp Staff for the Big Muddy District Cub Scout Day Camp program, and for the Scout Camp programs held at the Theodore Naish Scout Reservation in Edwardsville Kansas. Activities include Geocaching, Emergency Preparedness, as well as other fun adventures.
Joining Venturing is Simple. If you are interested in becoming a member of Venturing, then the first task is to find a Crew in your area that you have some common interests with. You can get a list of Venturing Crews in your area by visiting BeAScout.org. Click on the tab for Venturers and enter your Zip Code then click on "Go". You will be shown a map of your area and where all the Venturing Crews are located. Click on a map location and you will be provided with information on how to contact that Crew, and even who they are chartered by.
Once you've found a crew you might be interested in, arrange to go visit. Talk to your Parents. Then talk to some of the members of the Crew, especially those who you are classmates with at School. Find out what they are doing and if it sounds like fun, then ask for an applications. If you are under the age of 18, you will need your parent's permission and signature on the membership application.
Interested in joining Crew 2675? Great! You can either talk to one of our Crew members, or contact the Crew Advisor by either calling 816-783-3668, or sending an email to
